PREVAILING WINDS:
LOCAL CHARACTER: This is an intensive agricultural area in steep sided hill and valley terrain. Primary crops are avocados and specially crops.
DESCRIPTION OF STATION SITE:
The station is located on a water storage site operated by the Rancho California Water District. The site is an equipment/pipe storage area with a large water tank that has been built in a carved cove in the hillside. The station has been installed on the side of a north sloping hill adjacent to the water tank. It is level with the top of the tank. The hillside has been planted with what appears to recumbent fescue that varies in height from a few inches to a foot tall. It is irrigated with installed sprinklers.

60ft: Edge of cut to the cove carved out for water tank
60-90ft: Unpaved road around water tank approximately 50-60 feet below the station.

COMMENTS:
The cooperator has significant problems with maintaining the grass in a viable condition. This site has severe constraints when it is compared to the CIMIS site criteria. ETo data from this site should be used with caution. |
